US President Donald Trump has appointed Howard Brodie as the next United States ambassador to Finland. The announcement was made on Monday via Trump's social media platform, Truth Social.

Brodie is a businessman and attorney currently serving as the head of Brodie Generational Capital Partners, an investment firm based in Pennsylvania.

He is a Yale Law School graduate with extensive experience in international business negotiations and major financial transactions.

In his statement, Trump described Brodie as a dedicated philanthropist with a strong commitment to medical research, education, veterans’ causes, and the arts. Trump expressed confidence in Brodie’s ability to represent US interests abroad, highlighting his business acumen and international experience as key qualifications for the role.

Brodie replaces Douglas Hickey, who was appointed by former President Joe Biden. Hickey stepped down last September to join the campaign team of Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris.

As ambassador, Brodie is expected to focus on economic and strategic cooperation between the US and Finland. His background in business and law suggests an emphasis on strengthening trade and investment ties between the two countries.
