Coffee roasting booms

Several new small coffee roasting companies have sprang up in Finland in recent years, pushing the number of such roasting firms to roughly a dozen. To some extent, the boom is explained by the low initial investment required; coffee roasters are available for a few thousand euro. A number of small roasting companies are experiencing rapid growth. Turun Kahvipaahtimo, for example, has increased its output by over 30 per cent annually. “We roast coffee as the orders come in. The coffee is no more than a few days old when we deliver it,” roaster Juhani Haahti says.
