The Finnish Parliament has given a vote of confidence to Minister for Foreign Affairs Timo Soini (BR).
Members of the Parliament voted this afternoon 100–60 against a motion of no confidence brought against the minister for foreign affairs by four opposition parties: the Green League, Left Alliance, Social Democrats and Swedish People’s Party.
Soini will therefore be able to continue serving as the minister for foreign affairs.
The opposition parties were accusing him of contesting women’s rights and the foreign policy position of Finland. Soini had repeatedly stated his opposition to abortion, including during an official visit to Ottawa, Canada, in May.
