The young man on trial for the abduction of an eight-year-old girl in Kotka last autumn has pleaded guilty to charges of deprivation of liberty but denied charges of attempted child sexual abuse. “The defendant had no sexual motive,” his defence counsel argued. The defendant has also confessed to possession of sexually obscene pictures depicting children, after 227 pictures and 16 videos of minors performing sexual acts were found on his computer. The first hearings of the sensitive trial were held behind closed doors at the District Court of Kymenlaakso on 4 April.
