The unemployment rate in Finland rose to 7.3 per cent in August, Statistics Finland suggest. The statistical office’s Labour Force Survey published today estimates that in comparison to 2011 the number of the unemployed has increased by 22,000 to 199,000. Meanwhile, the Employment Service Statistics by the Ministry of Employment and the Economy suggest that at the end of August, there were 246,000 unemployed job-seekers in Finland, which indicates an increase of 11,300 from 2011. In addition, the number of temporarily laid-off job-seekers has declined by 1,800 from July, to 10,400, the ministry’s data indicate.
