TAMPERE UNIVERSITY of Applied Sciences (TAMK) has announced the launch a degree programme offering professional training for social media influencers and content producers under the brand Influencers Academy.
The English-language programme is scheduled to launch in January 2022.
Roughly 20–25 aspiring and established international influencers whose goal is to amass a following on various social media platforms and leverage it for corporate marketing and campaigns will be selected to the programme, according to YLE. Students completing the three-and-a-half-year programme will receive a bachelor of business administration degree in international business.
The commissioned degree programme has been put together by Edunation, a Tampere-headquartered education export specialist that collaborates with higher-education institutions in Finland and Europe. Based on the pedagogical approach by TAMK Proakatemia, the programme has been built predominantly on team coaching and learning.
The tailor-made degree is founded on entrepreneurship, with each student setting up and running a company for the duration of the programme in Finland. The aim of the instruction is to equip the students with the skills required to run their companies.
“The students will engage in business during their studies. The study points will be accumulated through business activity. There’s quite a lot of pressure on the students in that sense,” Carita Prokki, the head of continuous education at TAMK, stated to YLE on Thursday.
The programme is set to be the first of its kind in the world, according to the public broadcaster.
