THE CENTRAL FINLAND POLICE DEPARTMENT has released a bulletin detailing that a man and a woman have been hospitalised following a serious assault in Hervanta, a suburb of Tampere.

The incident occurred late on Monday evening and it is known that the two victims were both targeted and attacked by the same individual. It is unclear whether or not the attacker was known to either of the victims. It is also unclear whether the two victims are known to each other.

The first victim is listed as a 57-year-old male, while the second is a 38-year-old female. Both were rushed to hospital when emergency services arrived, having reportedly sustained significant “violent injuries”.

The perpetrator of the attack initially fled the scene of the crime but was later apprehended by police forces on a busy street in Hervanta. The crimes are currently being investigated as two individual cases of “gross assault”, although this may be subject to change as further details unfold.

Further details from the Central Finland Police Department are expected over the next couple of days.
