No state funding will be earmarked for Guggenheim Helsinki as long as the Finns Party remains a part of the ruling coalition, says Timo Soini, the chairperson of the Finns Party.
Timo Soini, the chairperson of the Finns Party, has firmly rejected the idea of earmarking state funding for Guggenheim Helsinki.
“The Centre Party and the National Coalition Party go back to state-funding Guggenheim, despite the fact that we have agreed otherwise a number of times. There will be no money for the project. It will not even be discussed in the budget session,” he asserts in his personal blog.
The Finns Party, he says, is not opposed to building the museum with private funds but will not approve of allocating state funding for the project as long as it remains a part of the ruling coalition.
“I hope that this is now clear to our coalition partners,” he adds.
Helsingin Sanomat revealed on Friday that Olli Rehn (Centre), the Minister of Economic Affairs, is intent on speaking in favour of the museum project in the upcoming budget session and is confident that roughly 40 million euros could be set aside for the project. Rehn also said he has discussed the issue with Sanni Grahn-Laasonen (NCP), the Minister of Education and Culture.
“Olli Rehn and Sanni Grahn-Laasonen are pouring water on cold sauna rocks,” states Soini.
