Helsinki will see major street events this June, including a samba parade, a heavy metal concert, military band processions, and the annual Pride March.
The Helsinki Samba Carnaval takes place on Saturday 14 June. The parade begins at 15:00 and follows a route from Senate Square along Unioninkatu, Pohjoisesplanadi, Mannerheimintie, and Aleksanterinkatu, ending near Mikonkatu and Yliopistonkatu. Streets along the route will be closed and parking restricted from early in the day.
The event is free and open to the public.
Two days later, on Monday 16 June, British heavy metal band Iron Maiden will perform at Helsinki Olympic Stadium. Traffic and parking restrictions will be in place around Mäntymäenkenttä, Mäntymäentie and the stadium area. The venue will be fully dedicated to concert logistics throughout the day.
Later in the month, Helsinki Pride Week culminates in a large parade on Saturday 28 June. The march begins at noon from Senate Square and continues along Aleksanterinkatu, Mannerheimintie, Pohjoisesplanadi, Fabianinkatu, Eteläinen Makasiinikatu, Kasarmikatu and Neitsytpolku, ending in Kaivopuisto. Organisers expect around 100,000 participants.
Helsinki is a key partner of the Pride event.
On Fridays, military bands from across Finland will perform on Senate Square starting at 12:20. The summer guard parades begin from the same location.
Residents and visitors are advised to check Helsinki Region Transport (HSL) and city websites for updates on road closures and public transport changes during these events.
