1, 2, 3, 4 – what is underneath the floor?
Mirel Wagner is not your average chipper folk blues singer. In fact, from the start of her performance she might just have your skin crawling like you’re 12 again and recounting scary stories by a bonfire at the cusp of nightfall. With the combination of her acoustic guitar, unique voice and lyrics that creep from underneath the floorboards she creates an eerie, somber mood that promises to rattle your senses.
Wagner grew up in Espoo and is of Ethiopian descent. She is also both the singer and songwriter of her music. She released her debut self-titled album in 2011, and in August she released her sophomore effort to great acclaim, When the Cellar Children See the Light of Day.
If you miss the haunting sensation your childhood fables spawned, or yearn to bath in the darkness that is slowly descending on use as we head closer to December, let Mirel Wagner embrace you in that dark, eerie place.
