TWO interesting exhibitions are continuing at The Finnish Museum of Photography . Delicate Demons – Episodes of Womanhood sees photographic artists Satu Haavisto and Aino Kannisto collaborating together to portray a number of different and often conflicting experiences of womanhood. Drawing from a cross-section of age groups, the models on display are ordinary women posing in situations and milieus that have been created especially for the photographs.
Seeking to challenge professional practices and to find new working methods, the two artists have worked closely together, often finding themselves in new and uncharted territory. Describing the working process as a well-rehearsed dance with a partner, the two artists took turns in taking the lead, whilst giving the other space for improvisation.
Meanwhile, Monokini 2.0 sets out to challenge society's perceptions of feminine beauty and acceptance. By designing a swimwear collection for women who have undergone a mastectomy, Helsinki-based artist duo Nutty Tarts (Katriina Haikala and Vilma Metteri) provide a platform for challenging ideals, bringing together a group of Finnish fashion designers to create a range of swimsuits that don't shy away from the physical evidence of their surgical procedures. The various designers participating in the project are Tyra Therman, Sasu Kauppi, Mert Otsamo, Timo Rissanen, Outi Les Pyy, Vilma Riitijoki and KaksiTvå.

The resultant creations were then captured in a fashion photo shoot, with women who have undergone a mastectomy acting as models.
