The Product

Helsinki Times Oy is a privately owned corporation operating in Helsinki, Finland. Helsinki Times publishes Helsinki Times newspaper in print once a week and maintains the online version of the publication at www.helsinkitimes.fi. Helsinki Time is the leading English language online and print publication in Finland. Both the print and online versions of the paper are available for subscription. Here are the terms and conditions that subscribers must agree to before entering a subscription agreement.

Free copy

Helsinki Times offers a free copy to every potential subscriber. You can also order a free copy for a friend who is a potential subscriber. We give you this option so you have an opportunity to fully evaluate the paper before you subscribe to it. Free copies can be ordered to each person only once. Helsinki Times reserves the right of refusing the request for a free copy. All rights of free copies are reserved in the same way as a subscribed paper and the way mentioned in this document.

Subscription types and prices

The regular prices of subscriptions for 2014 are the following:

For subscriptions inside Finland: Print Read online only

Continual subscription means that your subscription will continue until cancelled by you. You will be receiving bills on a regular basis once or twice a year.

One-year subscription to the printed-paper means that the subscription will not be renewed automatically and you will be contacted near the end of your subscription for renewal.

3 and 6-month subscriptions are particularly suitable for expats staying in Finland for a shorter period or for trial purposes.

Online subscription gives the possibility of reading the entire Helsinki Times and its archives online. It does not include receiving of the printed paper.

Other campaigns: Helsinki Times offers different campaigns at different times in order to increase the number of readers. Campaigns are meant for new subscribers only. An existing subscription cannot be changed into a campaign price directly or through cancellation. Campaigns may also offer a gift to new subscribers. These gifts are not meant for existing subscribers, but there will be loyalty gifts and prizes on a regular basis for loyal subscribers as well.

Helsinki Times offers discounted prices for students, unemployed and pensioners. A proof of qualification for the discount may be required.

Helsinki Times reserves the right to make changes to the prices and types of subscription anytime. The changes will not affect existing subscribers.

Payment

You pay for the subscription on a recurring basis. You can ask for bills to be sent once or twice a year or authorize us to charge your credit/debit card whenever the subscription is due for renewal. Short-term subscriptions are to be paid in full at the start of the subscription. However, subscribers to one-year and continual subscriptions can opt for payment in installments. Subscribers will have 14 days to pay for the subscription once the bill is received. Not paying an invoice will not be accepted as a means of cancellation. An interest rate according to Finnish laws may be added to the subscription price for late payments. Helsinki Times accepts Paypal payments. Other payment methods should be negotiated separately.

Cancellation and Refund Policy

You can cancel your subscription at any time for any reason. After your subscription is cancelled no further payments will be made. However, only full price continual or one year subscriptions can get a refund for undelivered issues. Short-term subscriptions or campaign subscriptions with reduced price and/or gifts included are not refundable.

All subscriptions, including short-term and campaign subscriptions could however be transferred to another recipient for the remaining time, in case the original subscriber cannot or does not want to receive the paper for any reason.

Delivery

We will deliver the newspapers to the address you provide us with when you place your order. Gift subscriptions can be delivered to any address of your choice. Postal charges will be added to subscriptions outside Finland. Helsinki Times uses other companies for delivering papers (such as Itella) and we do not take responsibility for any problems or irregularities related to delivery and out of our control. Helsinki Times’ responsibility is limited to replacing missing issues or adding the number of missing issues to the length of subscription.

In case of change of address, delivery of the paper will be directed to the new address as soon as we are informed.

Yearly and continual subscriptions can be suspended or transferred to another address during vacations.

We also do not take responsibility for technical problems with online services.

Changes to these Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions are subject to change without notice. Any such changes will be posted online on this page. If you do not agree with the new terms and conditions your only option is to cancel your subscription according to the terms set forth above.

Personal subscriptions

You purchase the subscription for your personal use. Sharing your online subscription with anyone is prohibited. It is your responsibility to keep your password private and secure. If you believe your password may have been compromised please notify us immediately. Helsinki Times has the technical instruments to detect abuse and reserves the right to discontinue subscriptions in case abuse is detected.

All the contents, including pictures and advertisements are subject to copyright and all rights are reserved. Subscribing to Helsinki Times print or online version does not give the right to borrow, copy, publish online or make public the content of Helsinki Times and helsinkitimes.fi by any other means.

You may print or download the articles for your personal, non-commercial use, provided you do not remove or alter any copyright, trademark, or any other proprietary notices. You may not retrieve the data to create or compile, directly or indirectly, a collection, compilation, database, or directory without written permission from Helsinki Times. Nor may you publish any of its content online. All other rights are reserved.

Permission must be asked for any usage other than personal reading.

Acceptance of these terms

When you click "Submit Order" to submit your order online, or you email, fax, post or telephone us with details of your order, you are making an offer to take out a subscription which if accepted by us, will result in a binding contract and acceptance of these terms and conditions.

Helsinki Times reserves the right to deny a subscription to any individual, organization or company for any reason, including, but not limited to payment or abuse problems.
