Alma Media to shut down Rovaniemi printing facility

Alma Media announced the closure of its printing facility in Rovaniemi and the consequent lay-offs of 23 staff members on Friday. According to the media company, the decision is necessary to improve the efficiency of printing operations and to ensure the vitality and future competitiveness of Alma Media. The operations in Rovaniemi will be discontinued by the end of March 2014. The closure will not, however, threaten the Alma Media publications printed in Rovaniemi, which include the regional newspapers Lapin Kansa and Pohjolan Sanomat, as they will be transferred to other printing facilities.
