Jan Vapaavuori (NCP), the Minister of Economic AffairsA funding scheme for the construction of two cruise ships, ordered by the German cruise line TUI Cruises, at STX Finland’s Turku shipyard has been hammered out, Jan Vapaavuori (NCP), the Minister of Economic Affairs reveals. The shipbuilding endeavour will receive 31 million euro in innovation subsidies, while the state will also purchase the shipyard’s land site for a market-based price of 23.5 million euro and lease it back to the shipbuilding company. In addition, STX Finland’s Korean parent company will bump up its stakes in the project, while the German cruise line will provide further flexibility for the funding. The details of their commitments, however, remain undisclosed, Vapaavuori says.
