THE ELECTRIC MOTOR VEHICLE GIANT TESLA has opened applications for its “2019 winter experience” to celebrate the release of their upcoming Model 3 and Model S cars. The event will allow lucky winners to experience the winter driving capabilities of the new Model 3 and Model S in Finland’s icy north.

In a message on Tesla’s official website, the company announces that an ice track has been purpose-built near the northern city of Kemi. Here competition winners will enjoy an all-expenses-paid trip which involves being driven around the frozen plains by a professional driver.

Winners will also enjoy luxury accommodation and a complimentary banquet at the Kemi SnowCastle Ice Hotel. In a recent email to Tesla owners, the company said the experience offers the chance to “enjoy the unparalleled power and best-in-class acceleration of Model S as you race across a wintery ice track with a trained professional”.

The event is being held to publicise the launch of the long-awaited models in Europe. Tesla already enjoys a strong following of loyal fans, particularly in the Northern European countries of Norway and Finland. The company aims to ship over 3000 Model 3 units to the region per week over the course of the coming year.

Prices for the Model 3 will start at 60,500 EUR in Finland, with the Model S starting from 40,000 EUR.
