As Ben struggles to secure financing for his MIT studies, he is recruited to join a team of brilliant students, who by counting cards beat the odds. As team leader works the eccentric math professor Micky Rosa (Kevin Spacey). Ben is soon entwined in the seductive Las Vegas lifestyle, and the attentions of his teammate Jill Taylor (Kate Bosworth), and he pushes his luck to the limits.
