Alcohol advertising ban under consideration

The Minister of Health and Social Services Maria Guzenina-Richardson (Social Democrats)

The Uutispäivä Demari, the official newspaper of the Social Democratic Party, reported today that the Minister of Health and Social Services Maria Guzenina-Richardson (Social Democrats) has put forward plans to restrict alcohol advertising. According to the Minister, the purpose of the changes would be to protect children and teenagers. “At the moment [alcohol] advertising can’t be avoided, it’s everywhere,” Guzenina-Richardson told the paper. Federation of the Brewing and Soft Drinks Industry, naturally, is opposed to the restrictions.
