The Kauhajoki shooting incident will also lead to an investigation of the actions of the police. Matti Juhani Saari, who killed ten people at the Kauhajoki vocational school, had been questioned by the police a day before the shooting, but the police let him keep 22-calibre handgun.

Saari had acquired a firearm licence in summer. According to the police, the shooter is originally from Northern Osthrobotnia.

Chief Inspector Urpo Lintala from the Seinäjoki police force admitted that Saari had met the police on Monday. He was called for interrogation because the police had received a clue about an internet video clip, on which Saari is featuring himself firing a pistol. Saari was interviewed by the police of Kauhajoki but the interrogation did not lead to any further actions. The staff of the vocational school had no idea about the threat or the questioning of the 22-year-old student.

According to the police, the videos on Youtube were clearly made with the help of another cameraman. Jari Neulaniemi from the National Bureau of Investigation did not tell on Tuesday night whether there was information about the identity of the person who has allegedly assisted in the making of the video.

The police investigated the apartment of the shooter in Kauhajoki on Tuesday. The shooter had left notes behind that indicated what was going to happen. Neulaniemi told on MTV3 news that there were two messages. According to notes, the shooter had planned the massacre as of 2002. He also wrote that he hated the humankind and the human race.
