Chart-topping singer Chisu will perform alongside classically trained dancers at a special club night this November.
Two dance cultures are set to collide later this month at the Finnish National Opera’s Dance with Dancers! showcase.
Taking place on 21 November, the event will see Helsinki’s Almi Hall transformed into a stylish nightclub. Clubbers will enjoy an inspired selection of pop, hip-hop and dance music with the added twist of performances by professional dancers from the Finnish National Ballet throughout the evening.
Presiding over the event will be Finnish radio and TV presenter, Mikko Peltola, best known for his coverage of the Eurovision Song Contest.
Among the programme highlights is a midnight gig by Finnish pop star Chisu, who will bring her distinctive brand of electropop to the venue, normally reserved for classical concerts and ballet.

“The Almi Hall will be changed into the coolest Helsinki club, with the coolest audience of course,” says Chisu on her website.
“How has a pop bimbo managed to reach the sanctuary of high culture? I’m not going to tell!” she jokes. “What I can say is that ballet dancers will performing to our songs… it’s a really fun project.”
Members of the Finnish National Ballet will also perform extracts from contemporary ballets Minus 7, by Ohad Naharin, and The Sofa, by Itzig Galili.
The fusion of dance traditions continues with Royalty of Pop, a specially choreographed tribute to Michael Jackson by ballet, street and disco-dance performer Sam Vaherlehto.
