Making invoices can be surprisingly expensive for firms, reports Intressi Lehti, the customer magazine of Intrum Justitia.
“A study conducted in autumn 2009 under the guidance of IGF Oy reveals billing costs for the invoicing company.
The elements involved in making an invoice were analysed in the study, and their costs were surveyed for about 400 companies. Based on this, the cost to businesses of a single invoice was calculated. Based on the results, the price varies between 0.60 euros and 300 euros.
‘The expenses incurred by invoicing are significant for the firm, because each one sends thousands of them every year. For example, each of the businesses that took part in our study sends 1,000-45,000 invoices annually, depending on the size of the company,’ emphasises Ilkka Heiskanen of IGF Oy.
The cost of an invoice is based on printing and mailing expenses, the amount of invoices sent in a year as well as personnel expenses of invoicing or other expenses related to outsourcing.”
