Tuija Brax (green), Finland's justice minister, wants to use the money from speeding tickets to buy new speed cameras, according to commercial broadcaster MTV3 on Wednesday.

According to the broadcaster's website, Brax is to tell more about her plans during MTV3 45 minuuttia programme on Wednesday.

The justice ministry's working group suggested a similar arrangement some two years ago. The suggestion did not go further because earmarking the fines did not fit with the principles of budgeting that are currently in use.

However, Brax told that she wants the principles of budgeting to be changed already during the upcoming government negotiations. In addition to the earmarked sums for traffic surveillance, the minister would like to earmark sums for supporting the victims of crimes.
