Finnish Finance Minister Jyrki Katainen (cons)

Jyrki Katainen (cons), Finland's finance minister, siad Tuesday that Finland would agree with the budget supervision proposed by the European Commission last week.

"It is fine with us, whoever is interested in the Finnish budget. It can be examined and evaluated. We have nothing to hide," Mr Katainen added in Brussels on Tuesday at a meeting of EU finance ministers.

The European Commission proposed examining member state budgets already as they are being prepared, so that giant deficits such as Greece's could be avoided.
