Storfjord local council in northern Norway on Tuesday made public a feasibility study on a railway linking Skibotn on the Norwegian coast to the Finnish network in Kolari.

One of the prerequisites outlined in the study is the construction of a cargo port in Skibotn.

The idea to build a railway between Finnish Lapland and northern Norway was first floated in the 1970s.
