Russian border officials told their Finnish counterparts during a meeting on Sunday that a Russian Border Guard Service helicopter had violated Finnish airspace in North Karelia last week.

The Finnish Border Guard added in a statement that the Russian Border Guard Service had said that the violation had been caused by a navigational error.

In July, a Russian helicopter entered Finnish airspace without authorisation in Nuijamaa, with the incident blamed on navigational error.
