About a fifth of the respondents in a poll carried out for Turun Sanomat and five other provincial dailies said they wanted the euro replaced by the mark as the country's legal tender, the papers reported on Wednesday.

Some three-quarters of those interviewed for the poll said they wanted to keep the EU's single currency.

Finland adopted the euro in 2002.

Market research company Taloustutkimus interviewed about 1,000 people.
