Finnish ferries MS Finnfellow, MS Viking Amorella and MS Viking Isabella collided with each other on a number of occasions in ice off Stockholm on Thursday.
A Viking Line spokesman said the ships had made contact when trying to manoeuvre away from pack ice.
The shipping company said there had been no danger to the thousands of passengers on board the ferries.
Tidningarnas Telegrambyrå, a Swedish news agency, reported that a number of other vessels had also become stuck in ice, including Swedish icebreakers that had sailed to the site to free the other ships from the ice.
