Viking Line was quoted as saying by the Finnish Broadcasting Company (YLE) on Saturday that the Finnish shipping company was considering placing a ferry order in Finland.
The public broadcaster added that Viking Line had found its current fleet lacking in size, with new emission regulations entering into force in 2015 requiring new propulsion technology.
Nils-Erik Eklund, the managing director of Viking Line, was quoted as saying that the Finnish government had failed to put together a satisfactory shipyard aid package.
He added that other European countries had done more than Finland to support their shipbuilding industry.
