Finnish flag carrier Finnair on Tuesday reported plummeting traffic and average fare figures, citing weak demand. The government-controlled outfit posted a 13.4-per cent year-on-year drop in traffic in June and an 18-per cent reduction in fares in the second quarter.
"The demand in air traffic is still weakening and Finnair has reduced capacity accordingly," said in a statement Christer Haglund, a Finnair spokesman.
Finnair cut its capacity by 14.2 per cent year-on-year in June, pushing its passenger load factor up by 0.6 percentage points to 74.0 per cent.
