The Finnish government decided on Friday to order a series of Finnair pilot strikes deferred by a fortnight to begin on 25 February.

The other one-day stoppages are now to take place on 2, 4 and 6 March.

Esa Lonka, the district state conciliator, had recommended the deferral.

Under Finnish law the labour ministry may defer a strike by up to 14 days in industries vital for the functioning of society.
