Saastamoinen dismissed as chair of local Finns Party faction

Esko Saastamoinen

Esko Saastamoinen has been dismissed as the chair of the Finns Party's local organisation in Lieksa, his successor Esa Räty has announced. Räty, who is the second deputy chair of the Lieksa town council, says that the decision to dismiss Saastamoinen was taken on Tuesday evening.

On Monday, Saastamoinen controversially requested for “a clean meeting place” for the organisation, apparently because the current one is also used by a Somali group. Meanwhile, town manager Esko Lehto has emphasised that the request will definitely not be granted.
