Prime Minister Alexander Stubb (NCP) has confirmed that Sanni Grahn-Laasonen (NCP), a 31-year-old first-term Member of the Parliament from the constituency of Häme, has been nominated as the new Minister of the Environment.
“The National Coalition has the portfolio of the Minister of the Environment for the first time in a long while,” Stubb began his press conference on Wednesday. “We believe sustainable development, growth, can be combined with sound environmental policy-making.”
“I nominated Grahn-Laasonen as the Minister of the Environment and the National Coalition parliamentary group approved her unanimously.”
Grahn-Laasonen estimated that her new portfolio is important due to its possible repercussions for future generations. Environmental protection and responsible energy and climate policy-making, she added, are “big things for me and the National Coalition”.
