Four people lost their lives as an estate car crashed head-on into a coach in Rautavaara, Northern Savonia, on Sunday evening. The woman driving the estate car is according to police suspected of crashing deliberately into the coach, which was carrying the father of her two youngest children, STT reports.
The coach was en route from Nurmes to Kuopio as the deadly collision took place.
The collision claimed the lives of the woman and three children in the estate car, reveals Juha Jääskeläinen, a senior constable at the local situation centre. It is estimated that identifying the deceased may take several days.
There were 14 passengers on the coach in addition to the driver at the time of the crash. Although ten of them were taken to the Kuopio University Hospital for treatment and five of them to a nearby health station a check-up, none of them are currently believed to have sustained serious injuries in the collision, police say.
